Tickets on sale August 15, 2022. Acclaimed saxophonist Joe Lulloff joins the Western Piedmont Symphony for Masterworks: Opening Night. Lulloff will perform the Tomasi Concerto for Saxophone (1949). Program also includes works by Ravel, Franck, and Stravinsky.

Collins will perform the Concerto for Vibraphone (2010) by North Carolina-based composer Nathan Daughtry. Program also includes works by Marquez, de Falla, and Debussy.

Then, the orchestra dives into the masterful Fifth Symphony by Mahler, featuring the adored Adagietto, Mahler's declaration of love to his wife, Alma.

Masterworks: The New Colossus

Nkeiru Okoye's personal response to 9/11, Voices Shouting Out, opens the concert. Acclaimed violinist Kinga Augustyn will perform the Korngold Concerto for Violin. The evening culminates with Peter Boyer's visual telling of the immigrant experience, Ellis Island: the Dream of America.
